I thought this was a great sequel, and I especially liked the last scene! This book felt very fast paced (almost too fast?) but I’d prefer that over something so slow it’s dragging lol。 I remember in book one I wasn’t super crazy about the romance, but I think I forgot enough of what happened in Spin the Dawn for it not to bother me in this one haha。 Either way, I’m happy I finished this duology!

This book was almost just as good as the last one! I didn't like Maia turning into a demon, although sometimes I did like it。 There wasn't nearly as much sewing (making clothing?) as the last time, and I was disappointed about it。 There wasn't really much of Edan in this was either and I loved the romance from the last part of Spin the Dawn。 I'm still glad I read this because it was a good ending to the duology, but I wished there might have been a different ending。 This book was almost just as good as the last one! His character played interestingly as at first he's a guy with mystery。the lord enchanter who's even never asked someone to forgive him, except his xitara。 Besides,he also being funny most of the time and at like it vveeeery much!😭😭not to forget when people thought they were a partner as husband and wife 😂😂arghh i guess if this guy REALLY exist,i will do whatever to be with him🤧“Live your life, xitara。”“I was meant for magic, once, but because of Maia, I am no longer the enchanter I was before。 I am meant for her now。 Her above all else。’ ”“Fairy tales, like Shiori’s tale。 I hardly remember hers now。 Or who told it to me。”“See? I got a copy of this book through Netgalley, all thoughts and opinions are my own。 This book is a 3,5 stars from me。 My review of Spin the Dawn Most of the things I said in my review to Spin the Dawn, are also the thoughts I have with Unravel the Dusk。 I liked it, and I don't really have any "bad" things to say about this book。 I almost read this all in one sitting。  And I often have many things to say about books when I'm reading them or when I finish them, but with Unravel the Dusk, I didn't p I got a copy of this book through Netgalley, all thoughts and opinions are my own。 This book is a 3,5 stars from me。 My review of Spin the Dawn Most of the things I said in my review to Spin the Dawn, are also the thoughts I have with Unravel the Dusk。 I liked it, and I don't really have any "bad" things to say about this book。 I almost read this all in one sitting。  And I often have many things to say about books when I'm reading them or when I finish them, but with Unravel the Dusk, I didn't particularly have any thoughts, other than liking the book。 That is at least the thoughts I have immediately after finishing this book。 I like Lims writing, and I liked how the story unfolded。 But it followed the YA formula too much, which made the book very predictable, and the book pretty much followed the same sequence as Spin the Dawn, not that I minded it。 The ending was pretty cliché, and I usually do enjoy happy endings, but I kind of wished that it had ended another way。  I wouldn't mind re-reading this duology again。 。。。more

I didn't like this book as much as the first one。 I just felt that it was a lot of dragging on and not so much happening。 Had some beautiful moments though。 I didn't like this book as much as the first one。 I just felt that it was a lot of dragging on and not so much happening。 Had some beautiful moments though。 。。。more

A satisfying ending to the duology。

As tends to happen with sequels, the magic and thrill of meeting and falling in love with the characters is done and now we face the challenges with them。 I preferred it when Maia was crafting amazing pieces with her scissors and tailoring was the focus。

I had a harder time with this one。。。 This second installment of The Blood of Stars has little to do with the first one in many ways。 The characterizations are different, the magic is different, one character is conspicuously absent for most of the book, and there's almost no Sewing! The story is good, but felt more disjointed than the first, and just didn't pull me in as much。 The conclusion was lovely but overall I can't give it more than 3 stars。 I had a harder time with this one。。。 This second installment of The Blood of Stars has little to do with the first one in many ways。 The characterizations are different, the magic is different, one character is conspicuously absent for most of the book, and there's almost no Sewing! It was a nice book。 I love how the author writes, so I always struggled to put the book down at night。 However, the first book was AMAZING and this book was just okay。 The story of the second book is a bit more predictable and cliche。 You knew exactly when she would do something with her dress and how the story would go, for the most part。 I did love that the 2 main characters had a decently healthy relationship。 That was refreshing, compared to most stories。

I really enjoyed it。 It may be missing something, or there is one major issue in it, but overall I would highly recommend it!3⭐ - This book was average。 Neither good nor bad。 Certainly not the worst book I've read, but not the best either。2⭐ - This book really just wasn't for me。1⭐ - Well, I finished it。 How? I don't know。 Definitely do not recommend it。 。。。more

The first half I found more exciting than the second, it just jumpeds in! Her demon vision was strange though, I couldn't really picture that。I hate how she just pushed two certain people's feelings to the side because they aren't meant to marry, when it's the same way she feels for her love。She continuously forgot things I swear she'd been told before, which confused me a lot。 She's 18, so she shouldn't be so dumb。 I get that she's led a sheltered life, but she doesn't make silly decisions, so The first half I found more exciting than the second, it just jumpeds in! I wanted to explore more of that。 I wanted more of the battles, more of the epic Lady Sarnai (who is indeed, epic) and just, less of the repetitive “I’m turning into a demon… gasp… what do I do about it… I suppose just ponder the problem over and over again。” This gave the book a melancholic flavour that just didn’t let up。 Despite how strong the women are in this book, Maia had this mantra where she couldn’t ask for help because she didn’t want to burden anyone。 Breaking this with a more positive message would have helped to dissuade the perception that asking for help is a sign of weakness。 Learning how to ask for help would have reinforced Maia’s ties to her humanity。AND huge bummer, Edan is barely around and only truly renters the story over halfway through the book。 Really wish his character had had more room to grow as it did in book one。 I understand Maia is our main protagonist who needed to be on her own at times for plot purposes, but right here, this is where multiple POVs could have assisted in developing other characters, as this was lacking。 The love that developed between Edan and Maia in Spin the Dawn, that beautiful love, turned into her constantly omitting the truth and Edan acting as support to Maia first and foremost。 Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it isn’t as strong as Spin the Dawn。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this duology!Overall this story had more romance than I had anticipated (nothing graphic, all very sweet!) but I love that the main character is a girl tailor fighting for her place in a man's world who goes on an adventure/epic quest。 The story at times feels a bit all over the place, but it's a fun adventure and I look forward to rereading it at a later date!I should also add that I listened to this via audio, I enjoyed the narrator, a good voice for the story。 I've heard her I really enjoyed this duology!Overall this story had more romance than I had anticipated (nothing graphic, all very sweet!) but I love that the main character is a girl tailor fighting for her place in a man's world who goes on an adventure/epic quest。 The story at times feels a bit all over the place, but it's a fun adventure and I look forward to rereading it at a later date!I should also add that I listened to this via audio, I enjoyed the narrator, a good voice for the story。 I've heard her narrate a book with multiple POV's before (multiple narrators) and also Spin the Dawn (aka book 1 in this duology)。 。。。more

Interesting conclusion to the first book but loosing some of the charm of the relationship between Maia and Edan。 For most of this book, Maia faces up to the consequences of setting Edan free of his enchantor vow, by slowly turning into a demon。 Most of it is her fighting her demon side and using the dresses to help in the war against the Shansen。On the flip side, she's no longer the one that needs rescuing so much and is the one that fights to save Alaandi and help people。 However she loses mor Interesting conclusion to the first book but loosing some of the charm of the relationship between Maia and Edan。 For most of this book, Maia faces up to the consequences of setting Edan free of his enchantor vow, by slowly turning into a demon。 Most of it is her fighting her demon side and using the dresses to help in the war against the Shansen。On the flip side, she's no longer the one that needs rescuing so much and is the one that fights to save Alaandi and help people。 However she loses more of her self each time, either her humanity as her body changes, her mind as she starts to forget people (even Edan), and her heart as she fights evil demonic Maia。 I also dont understand why she's so subservient particularly to Sarnai who she saves on many on an occassion。 Edan serves as more of a prop here to remind Maia of who she is and doesn't do much as he's lost most of his powers。Overall it was a little lack lustre for me but was a good conclusion to the story overall。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was so looking forward to this book and I was so disappointed。 I felt like the character went backwards instead of forwards。 And I couldn’t stand how much of the book was spent on her talking about, debating about becoming a demon。 It was redundant, annoying and was more than half of the book。 I was bored。 And the worst part is, the book has this happy wrap it all up ending that makes the incessant “I’m turning into a demon” debate in her head pointless。
